IDFA x REPHRASE
There is a lot happening in the world: stories are unfolding, perspectives are shifting, and some deserve to be looked at a little closer. Documentary is one way of exploring these stories, questioning what we see and making sense of the world around us.
That is why IDFA and Rephrase Magazine are joining forces to give a new generation of film critics the opportunity to watch documentaries, develop their perspectives and share their thoughts through writing. We are looking for 3 emerging writers/film critics aged 18 to 35 to cover IDFA 2026 with us.
What to expect:
✦ 3 documentaries to watch via online previews
✦ 2-3 complimentary festival tickets
✦ 3 articles to write for Rephrase Magazine
✦ Publication on our website and social media
✦ Editorial guidance, feedback and an opportunity to build your portfolio
No professional experience required – just curiosity, a passion for documentary storytelling and a desire to develop your writing. Your articles can be written in English, Dutch, or a mix of both.
To apply, send us: a motivation letter (max. 1 A4 page), a writing sample (article, review or similar), and a confirmation of your availability during IDFA (Nov 12–22) and the period leading up to the festival (Oct 28–Nov 12).
