In the Heat of the Moment
For this open call, we invite you to explore what happens in the heat of the moment. Think heat in the broadest sense: a heatwave, a heated argument, falling in love, political tension, desire, anger, pressure, excitement, or the feeling of being overwhelmed by everything happening at once.
We are interested in moments when emotions rise, temperatures climb, and things begin to shift. What happens when we lose control, or finally let go? When does heat become uncomfortable, transformative, intimate, or destructive?

Deadline: Sunday 13 september 2026 at 23:59 pm
Language: we accept contributions in English and Dutch, as well as multilingual work. If your contribution combines languages, please include a Dutch or English translation.
Written contributions: max. 1500 words, submitted as a Word document.
Video & visual work: please submit via a WeTransfer link or as a PDF.

Authenticity
We truly value authentic work. Our editors will support you sharpening your text and track down possible language mistakes. As part of our editorial process, submitted texts may be checked with AI-detection tools to help assess the authenticity of the work. If AI has been used in the creation of visuals, video, or other experimental visual or textual material, please mention this in your submission email.
Compensation
At this moment, unfortunately, we are not able to offer financial compensation for submitted or published work. We recognise the importance of fair compensation for creative and written work and are committed to working towards offering compensation in the future.
